About Mark Andrew Gendal, O.D., F.A.A.O.
Dr. Mark A. Gendal graduated Magna
Cum Laude in Biology and Psychology from the University at Albany.
He went on to receive his Doctor of Optometry from the State
University of New York College of Optometry. He received the
prestigious Billie Lyons Award for Community Service from the
college. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.
Academy Fellows comprise 5% of the nation’s optometric physicians,
they are held to the highest ethical and professional standards of
practice.
Dr. Gendal has lived and practiced
in Coral Springs for the past 27 years. The mission at Drs. Reisch
and Gendal’s Vision World is to both preserve and enhance the visual
health and serve the needs of the Coral Springs community. Dr.
Gendal leads his life believing that in giving we receive and in
receiving we give. He leads his staff in providing compassionate
excellence to his patients. His practice provides world class
vision care by way of the most technologically advanced instruments
available. He is a member of the
Optometric Council on
Refractive Technology, The Ciba Vision VIP research panel, and does
extensive research for the Morley Group.
Glaucoma treatment; diabetes
management, foreign body removal, brain tumor and stroke detection,
vitreous detachments, high blood pressure, and other anomalies are
routine elements of optometric physician care. Dr. Gendal’s
specialty is children’s vision. His exams encompass the whole child.
He consults with teachers, child psychologists and reading
specialists. In addition to advanced education and research,
leadership in his profession includes facilitating ancillary care
for his patients and advocating for them to other physicians. He
works directly with his indigent patients to get them care that they
may not be able to obtain themselves. He provides countless hours of
pro bono time and materials for hundreds of patients through the
Lyons Club and other organizations. Over the past 25 years, Dr.
Gendal has employed and mentored more than fifty high school
students. These students have become nurses, dentists and doctors
and many are already serving our community. He has had interns from
Coral Glades High School HOSA, the Miami Dade Community College
Optometric Technicians program, and Optometry Students from Nova
Southeastern University.
